Where it Started
Immersive Slot Racing was born from a simple idea:
What if slot car racing could feel more like real motorsport?
I've been a fan of motorsports for as long as I can remember. Growing up during the peak of the Jeff Gordon era, NASCAR quickly became an obsession. By the time I was six years old, my family was making the three-hour trip from Connecticut to New Hampshire Motor Speedway to experience race weekends in person. Today, NASCAR is still my foundation, but my passion extends to anything with wheels—from sports cars and endurance racing to local grassroots motorsports.
The Garage
That passion was reinforced during my childhood while spending time at my grandfather's five-bay commercial garage. After school, I'd help around the shop, tearing down old parts for scrap and learning how mechanical systems worked. Watching race cars on Sunday and spending afternoons in a repair shop gave me an appreciation for both racing and mechanical problem-solving.
Around that same period, when I was eight years old, I received my first slot car set—a Carrera GO!!! starter set. I spent hours flipping through product catalogs, dreaming about larger tracks, faster cars, and the advanced digital features that were beginning to appear in the hobby. Even then, what fascinated me most wasn't simply racing the cars—it was creating a miniature motorsports experience.
Racing on a Bed
Years later, after college and starting my engineering career, I purchased my first Carrera Digital 132 set. At the time, I was living with my father and didn't have a dedicated space for a layout, so every race night began with assembling the track on my bed and ended with taking it apart again. As my collection grew, so did my desire to push the platform further.
The Dedicated Slot Room
Eventually, I moved into my first apartment and converted the second bedroom into a dedicated slot car room. With a 5' x 12' layout, I began experimenting with track designs, scenery, digital accessories, and
custom modifications. During that time, the YouTube channel Slot Car Mayhem and John's Glendale 65 series opened my eyes to what digital slot car racing could truly become.
The more I experimented, the more I saw opportunities to improve the experience. Some ideas solved problems I was personally facing. Others unlocked possibilities that simply didn't exist in the hobby. Before long, my notebook was filling with concepts—and Immersive Slot Racing began to take shape.
Building ISR
That's when Immersive Slot Racing was born.
The more I experimented, the more I noticed opportunities to improve the hobby. Some ideas solved problems I was personally facing. Others unlocked possibilities that simply didn't exist in digital slot racing.
As a mechanical engineer, I couldn't stop thinking about better ways to build layouts, create more realistic race experiences, and get more from the space racers already had available.
What started as sketches, prototypes, and late-night ideas eventually became Immersive Slot Racing—a company built by a racer who simply wanted more from the hobby.
Today
Today, Immersive Slot Racing is focused on one goal:
Making digital slot car racing more immersive, more realistic, and more accessible.
We're developing innovative track systems, race-day accessories, and practical upgrades designed to help racers create layouts that feel more like real motorsport.
Whether you're building your first permanent layout or chasing the next level of realism, we're creating the products we always wished existed so more racers can experience what's possible with digital slot car racing.
